ARTIST STATEMENT

I grew up in a country side of Kerala, India and now reside in NJ, USA.
I've been painting from my very young age and lost touch for a while for the last 10 years. Now I started painting again. My paintings feature strong colors, pure themes, and expressive form. Currently I am working on a series about Kerala, its culture, people and the beauty. They are relatively large paintings inspired by the murals and the village scenes in Kerala.

Figurative paintings of everyday people in everyday places and figures and characters from Indian myths - I simply enjoy painting the world around me and the world in my thoughts. I also started working on "painting a week" project, which helps me keep my brushes wet and my craft sharpened. I call them sticky notes. In fact all my paintings are kind of sticky notes in my life. It reminds me of the moments I lived. It reminds me the faces and events who places those stickies on me.

Certain artists have left their mark with me and a few such notables are Namboothiri, A Ramachandran, KCS Panicker,Vangogh and Picasso.

I prefer oil and acrylic as my medium of expression
