My relationship with reality and my dreams form the arena that inspires me to paint. It is the mystery of life which intrigues me, as does the furtiveness of the natural world. To explore these mysteries, I have chosen the influential power of paint as a means of expression. Painting allows me to smooth out some of life’s crudeness; to realize peace and tranquility. As creative beings, we have to continuously convey hope and innovative ideas – if only through the visual. I celebrate life and nature. I uncover my soul and spirit and I invite the viewers to reveal their own. I began painting in 1989 and have spent the last 15 years creating somewhat of a mystical, idyllic world filled with spirituality and religious themes. My paintings have evolved from representational portrayals in pastels to abstract forms and landscapes in acrylics. Viewers generally find my work introspective, tranquil and peaceful, often emanating otherworldly impressions. A native of New York City, I studied drawing at the School of Visual Arts and lithography & portrait drawing at Parson’s School of Design. In the mid 90’s I had the opportunity to exhibit two solos in Hoboken and various group shows well into the new millenium. Today, I take much pleasure in working with the acrylic medium because of it’s versatility and vibrancy. All of my “Solitaires” (most current series) ascend over the horizon, the place where eternity dwells and where I seek out silence and stillness. It is also the place where my reality meets my dreams. |
