Artist StatementMy starting point is either a scanned photograph, a digital photograph, or a scanned paper collage. Then in a dialog between my eyes and technology, using Photoshop to manipulate the images, I aim to unlock the story within the image. Each artwork is the result of many experiments, the process is an artistic delight for me and hopefully the result is enchanting to the viewer. I have also created a special series revolving around Ground Zero. I feel that in this world stressed by fears, negativity, wars, and natural disasters, we all need to experience something uplifting. I believe that art is a healing force for the human psyche. My works sometimes address issues that are painful but for me the end result must uplift the viewer and elevate the soul. I see my mission, as an artist, to transport the viewer out of this drab mundane existence and into a world of emotion, and wonder, making the world a little better for that one moment in time.
