Artist Statement

I work in painting series: I focus on a particular theme or format for a period of time. So far I’ve had four series, each exploring ideas or experiences important to me.

Each of my series has had a dominant theme:

"Texas Nights": I was interested in outer space and the mystery that anything exists at all.

"Rocks": I focused on the earth and our connection to it.

"Altar of Acceptance": a journey through the grief experience.

"Creation Game": an intellectual exploration of the invisible, focusing on quantum physics.

I’m at a place now, where I’m returning to the themes and some of the techniques of my first series: space is so big and so beautiful and we're so small....Art may be like a clock, we keep going round and round, revisiting the same places (ideas) over and over, only each time in a new way.
