Artist Statement
Mike Lindwasser's primary focus in his photography over the past
two years has been
Shooting at night and focusing on using the light that’s
available to create and guide my art and stray away from using any
sort of elaborate light sources. I actively seek out available light
and reflections from various sources such as: street lamps, neon
signs, windows, moonlight, etc., and use them for the purpose of
creating an unique image. I enjoy a challenge so therefore I have
minimized my equipment and limited myself to a digital SLR and two
lenses. I strongly believe this approach allows me to master the
images depicted in my mind and fully bring them to life.
Since 2008, I’ve had several solo and group shows
through out New York and New Jersey. He is returning artist to Midoma
having showed in February of 2009. His work is on permanent
display and for sale at Right Angle Gallery in Hoboken as well as east
of Eighth in NY . The photography displayed at these venues ranges
from unconventional angles and using long exposures (sometimes up to
30 seconds) which creates extremely vibrant almost Un-earthy color
tones in my images. The ordinary objects and structures come alive and
share their extraordinary beauty during this slow and deliberate
process. A mixed variety of scenic photography is currently on display
and for sale through out the summer at: Don Pedro’s restaurant and
bar in NY.
I strive to share the beauty of the ordinary with my audience. Additional
photography pieces are for sale at various on line galleries such as
Ugallery and Fine Arts America. I’m also represented by LG-Reps
seen here which displays and sells my photography. For more
information, please contact LG-Reps.
In the past months, I have added a new twist to my process by adding a
new factor and creating a multiple exposure image. Using this blend
gives the photographs new dimensions, shadows, reflections, deep
feeling and mystery, which makes the image look like a painting or
other media. I also created a new element of beauty using this
technique as seen in the photograph “Midnight Dream” which is
included in this show. On the whole, my images use a combination of
creative and at times extreme angles and long exposures to create a
unique genre of photography. The extensive time of the exposures imbue
my photographs with vibrant colors of the day despite the fact that
they were shot in the middle of the night.
In 2002 I attended The School of Visual Arts and after a few years, I
decided to leave SVA and take my photography to the next level. In
2005, I hit the ground running and to this day work as a talented
freelance photographer for various Companies, magazines, restaurants,
websites and specialized in portrait and event photography. I continue
to meet all walks of life while building a stronger client base. I am
extremely grateful as my passion has allowed me to meet all walks of
life, take on new photography opportunities and build strong
partnerships. For that, photography is my life.
Scheduled upcoming events include: solo photography show at Art Bar in
the fall of 2010 through LG-Reps, winter group show in Barcelona,
Spain through A Forest Gallery and a group show through LG-Reps for
OIA (Organization of Independent Artists) in early 2011.
