Artist StatementMy ceramic work combines the elemental forces in nature, earth, water, fire and air with human forces, which drive us to shape and create form in order to tell the stories that lie hidden in our souls. My photographs are the result of my journey. I have been photographing people and their places for as long as I can remember. My current interests reside in nature and the human condition. Ansel Adams said, “There are always two people in every picture: the photographer and the viewer.” I would like my photographs to serve as a springboards to the viewers world. 365 24/7 Photoblog....check it out.
BiographyI was born in Brooklyn, NY a long time ago. I colored with crayons and doodled my way through elementary school and was able to take art classes in high school, which led to my first portfolio and acceptance into the School of Visual Arts. After two years and the bombing of Cambodia, no real connection, I left to study at the Art Students League. Within six months and an assortment of unsatisfactory factory jobs I returned to school, first Newark State College (Kean) in Union, NJ and then Wayne State University in Detroit, MI where I finally received a BFA. I have worked in many different mediums including photography, oil, watercolor, pencil and most recently clay. I live in Hoboken, where I have resided for the past 30 years. My ceramic work is created, fired and glazed at The NY/NJ Academy of Ceramic Arts in Jersey City. Recent ShowsHid in Hoboken Eureka Gallery Hoboken, NJ June 2009
