During the past few years, my aim as an artist has been to explore, through photography, the blurring of boundaries between abstraction and representation. I am experimenting with the deconstruction and destruction of the visual image... and the reconstruction and creation of a new reality, through conceptual forms in nature and their relationships with the human made environment. My goal is to evoke emotional tension between the viewer's perception of the imagery, and the spatial void that includes the viewer, the wall and the image.
I am not interested in capturing or documenting the real world. I am, however, focused on conveying the basic elements that deconstruct and construct the visual image...an interwoven elemental illusion of a new reality that brings the photographer, the space surrounding the photographer, and the viewer, into a virtual universe where form is translated into its own reality, and speaks in a universal language.
My photography also challenges visual comprehension and conceptual information. By deconstructing form, my emphasis is on the interplay of color, light, movement, space, and texture, in order to evoke an immediate primal emotional reaction. By transposing images from the visually familiar i.e. what the eye thinks it sees, the viewer is engulfed by the luminous essence of color and light, making visible what is otherwise invisible to the human eye, heart and mind.
What we don't see is as important as what we do see.
What is real in the world is now abstract...and what is abstract is now real.
I am in pursuit of the perfect photo.
